All about mini-sessions!

Learn all about my Canberra mini-sessions and why they can be a great way to update your family photographs!

What are mini-sessions?

Mini sessions are short versions of regular photography sessions.

My mini-sessions usually run for 20 to 30 minutes and are priced under my regular session fees. Because they are shorter, you’ll get fewer edited digital images as part of your session package. You can choose your favourite shots to download as high-resolution digital images from a password-protected online gallery in the weeks following your session.

Mini sessions are usually at one central Canberra location and run back-to-back. This means there may be other clients directly before or after you, so being on time for the start of your session is important. You can have up to 5 people in your mini-session. If you have a larger family, consider booking an additional time slot, because it does take longer to photograph larger groups.

Full payment for mini-sessions is required at the time of booking. This means you can download your included images as soon as they become available. You can purchase additional photos if you choose, either individually or as part of an add-on package.

Why should I choose a mini-session?

There are a few reasons why a mini-session may be a good option for you and your family.

• Budget-friendly – a mini-session may be a better option than a full session if you only want a few images to update your family photos, as these are included in the mini-session price. There are always options to upgrade your package and purchase more photos from your session.
• Time-friendly – you can be all wrapped up within 30 minutes, which can work better for smaller children. Which leads me to….
• Short attention spans – if you have kids who get distracted after a relatively short time doing an activity, a mini-session is less pressure on them. It means they don’t have to smile or try to be on their best behaviour for a full hour (and that also applies to adults too!)

What’s included in a mini-session?

While they may be shorter, a few standard inclusions apply to all my sessions. These include:

• A session contract – the contract explains the terms and conditions of your mini-session, so everyone is on the same page.
• A session questionnaire – gives me some basic information about you and the family members participating in the session. This can help me to plan and make your session run as smoothly as possible.
• A pre-session consultation – I’ll call you for a chat after you have signed your contract. It’s an opportunity to get to know each other a little better before we meet in person so you feel more comfortable going into your session.
• You’ll also get a call or text message on the day to check everyone is well and confirm your session will go ahead. If the weather isn’t looking good we may reschedule your session for another day.

What happens during a mini-session?

I’ll guide you and your family on what to do during your session. This is designed to give you a wide variety of shots and people combinations to pick from in your online image gallery. This may include a few basic poses, but I’m also keen for you and your family to express yourselves. That may mean the kids running around, everyone hugging, or parents laughing. It’s those emotions that will keep bringing you back to your photos.

After your session, I’ll edit a selection of photos and upload them to an online gallery. You’ll have a short time to review your images and choose your favourites to download. Want more images? No problem! You can always upgrade your package and purchase additional images through your gallery.
